Youth Group

At Flint, we love our kids!  We know they are the future of the Lord's Church and we want them to be as involved as any other group within the congregation.  They might be the busiest of all of us!  Big Red, or Michael James, is our Youth Minister and he does a great job of keeping the kids happy and excited about attending services as well as various events.  We are so glad to have him and his wife, Patti, working with our youth!

Our Youth Group is busy with many different activities over the course of the year.  In February, many of our kids from sixth grade up attend the Challenge Youth Conference in Gatlinburg.  This is a wonderful experience for our kids as well as the chaperones.  Starting on Good Friday, nearly all of the Youth Group goes to Nashville to attend the Lads to Leaders and Leaderettes convention at the Opryland Hotel.  This convention includes many different areas in which kids, young adults, and even adults can participate, such as Speaking, Song Leading, Bible Reading, knowing the books of the Bible, memorization of Bible verses, and service projects.  Over the summer, we have so many activities for the kids, we couldn't possibly include all of them!  During the school year, the entire Youth Group is encouraged to attend the Area-Wide Devotionals held at a different congregation each month, where they go for Sunday evening services and then a meal, followed by a time of devotional songs and a lesson.  There are also skate nights, service projects, and holiday activites such as caroling for our older members.

We are always busy, but the kids have a great time and these activities help them to form a strong bond with each other.  Through the activities we participate in with other congregations, our kids are able to get to know many others from the area as well.  We encourage that bond between the youth groups so that strong Christian friendships are formed and they have each other for support throughout their lives.
